Meet our La Garangeoire Reps

We are Carol and Ian Forsythe. Ian used to work in IT, in the city ofLondon, Carol is a qualified nursery nurse  and we used to live inZurich,Switzerland, where due to the frantic pace of life we started looking for a new vocation. We came across an advertisement  for holiday reps. inFrance. We  decided to give it a go for six months, we are now into our sixth year !

We both enjoy the job as it is a better work/life balance, involving busy periods at start up and close down, along with quieter periods when customers are in and enjoying their holidays. Meeting and interfacing with people from different countries and different ways of life is great. No two days are the same and our role is to ensure that everything is just right for the customers to enjoy their EuroParcs holiday at La Garangeoire.

Our site we work on now, La Garangeoire, is  in the Vendee region of France and is a peaceful country area just twenty minutes from the Atlantic coast, where there are many beautiful beaches, with great surfing for those who enjoy that form of exercise. On site activities include horse riding, cycling, tennis, fishing and as much walking as you can do. The site organises quiz nights and entertainment in high season, as most of the sites customers are English or Irish.  All the staff speak English, although they love you to try your French.

Local attractions include Puy De Fou, a re-enactment of French history with a cast of hundreds, including horsemen and farm animals. La Folie de Finfarine is a great day out, all about bees, (which we also have at La Garangeoire in hives behind the Chateau) lots for the kids to explore and some great honey to buy.  St.Gilles Croix de Vie is the nearest sea side resort with a huge sandy beach, shops, bars and restaurants, and some of the tastiest ice cream we’ve ever had. For those with an interest in everything horticultural, there is the Potager Extraodinaire botanical garden with 1500 plants just ten minutes away in La Mothe-Achard. Not far is the village of Apremont with its chateau, riverside sandy beach and typically French shops, bars and restaurants.  All this and a micro climate which means we get as many sunshine hours as the south of France !!
