With Christmas now over, thoughts are turning to the summer holiday …… where will you go, how will you get there, when is a good time to go …… so many things to think about.
A great holiday destination any time of the year is Vilanova Park near Barcelona. The site is open all year round and it is an ideal choice of location if you want to mix sight seeing with a relaxing break.
The amazing city of Barcelona is only 30 minutes from the site by train/bus and the city is a lively and cosmopolitan place with so much to see from the old town with it beautiful buildings dating from Medieval times to the enchanting winding alleys and pretty squares of the Gothic Quarter.
If you are a “foodie” like me it is the perfect city for sampling Catalan cuisine – a wonderful mix of French, Roman and Moorish influences. There are many fantastic restaurants near Vilanova Park like Pinotxo, a bar/restaurant where you can sample market produce to lovely old restaurants in the Gothic Quarter. If you want to enjoy an excellent meal by the shores of the Mediterranean, my colleague Rod recommends La Santa Maria, a great beach side restaurant in Sitges (only 15 mins from Vilanova Park).
Rub garlic and a ripe tomato into toasted bread
(preferably a crusty white loaf). Make sure all the
juices soak well into the bread. Drizzle with olive oil and serve
immediately – this dish is delicious served for lunch or as a starter
with your main course. All of your meals you can eat outside on
your wooden decking at Vilanova Park and of course you will need
chilled glass of Cava to go with it!!!!
