Sample the local cuisine with its Catalan influences and the local wines including Fitou and Corbieres. The famous medieval walled city of Carcassonne is just 90 minutes drive and well worth visiting. Be sure to take your camera, it really is outstanding. In nearby Perpignan the Palace of the Kings of Majorca and the cathedral of St John the Baptist are popular tourist attractions.
