Who, what, where, when
Wherever you look, there is water everywhere. EuroParcs De Wiedense Meren is located between two lakes, with the Beulakerwijde on one side and the Belterwijde on the other. Take a boat out on the rippling lake, take a refreshing dip in the water or explore the beautiful nature of National Park Weerribben-Wieden. Nearby is tourist town Giethoorn, but this area is just as beautiful with the difference that it is not yet overrun by tourists. The place to be to enjoy a quiet holiday near the water!
EuroParcs De Wiedense Meren is located close to idyllic Giethoorn. The picturesque village, also known as the ''Venice of the North'', is famous for its canals, charming bridges and thatched farmhouses. Explore Giethoorn by boat, enjoy the picturesque surroundings and experience the unique atmosphere that makes this place so special. A stay at EuroParcs De Wiedense Meren offers the perfect opportunity to discover the fairytale village.
EuroParcs De Wiedense Meren holiday park is located in the Kop van Overijssel, in the middle of National Park Weerribben-Wieden. This extensive nature reserve is the largest low moorland in Northwest Europe, which was created by cutting reeds and peat. This created a maze of waterways interspersed with pools, lakes, marsh forests and reed beds. Here you will find unusual plants such as the marsh spurge and the green orchid. Look around carefully, because you might spot the Large Firefly or the otter. The best way to explore the area is on foot, by bike or, even better, in a boat or canoe. And the best part is: you can just leave from the marina of the park!
A fifteen-minute drive from EuroParcs De Wiedense Meren are charming towns such as Meppel and Hasselt (OV). Stroll through the streets of Meppel, with the Meppel Tower as the literal highlight, past monumental buildings and canals with small bridges. It's also nice to visit Molen de Weert where they still grind corn or the Printing Museum. In the Hanseatic city of Hasselt, admire historic buildings such as the Stephanus church or one of the other 70 national monuments and discover why Hasselt is also called 'little Amsterdam'. This city full of character is situated at the Zwarte Water and was already an important religious centre in the Middle Ages. In Hasselt, a number of pilgrim routes converge which connect to the well-known pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostella in Spain.
