The most famous sights in Turnhout are undoubtedly the famous Beguinage which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and the Castle of the Dukes of Brabant which currently serves as a court of justice. The halls of the castle can only be visited with a guide. A visit to the National Museum of Playing Cards is also a must in the city of playing cards. A walk through the city centre will take you past photogenic spots such as the Market Square with the St. Peter's Church. And those who love shopping can go to the Gasthuisstraat, the most famous shopping street of Turnhout.

As mentioned, Turnhout has appointed itself the capital of the Flemish Campine. Here you can enjoy everything nature has to offer. You can cycle or walk endlessly along babbling brooks and the Turnhoutse Vennen area. This is one of the most important heath areas of Flanders where you can see special meadow birds such as the curlew and the black-tailed godwit. The Kalmthoutse Heide is also a beautiful nature reserve where dunes, fens and woods alternate. Don't forget to bring your binoculars!
