Since 1936, the Villach Church Day, for the locals known as "Villacher Kirchtag" has invited people to celebrate diversity and happiness in the first week of August. In 2025, the festival takes places 27th July until 3rd of August. Austria's largest traditional festival attracts over 450,000 visitors to the festively decorated city every year.

The program at the Villacher Kirchtag

Like every year, there is once again an extensive program at Austria's largest traditional festival: from rides to the annual traditional costume parade to festival stages with great music. There is something here for everyone.

Amusement park

An amusement park in the middle of the old town? You can visit it every year at the Villacher Kirchtag! The rides stretch for two kilometers through the center of Villach. Special children's rides are also available for the youngest guests.

Sunday in particular has emerged as a family day where parents can spend a wonderful time together with their children.

Festival stages and music

There's a lot going on at the town hall square in Villach: from brass to dance music, as well as local and international folk dance groups, there's a real nice atmosphere and lots of fun.

If you'd rather have a real party, you'll find the Kirchtag disco at Kaiser-Josef-Platz. It starts with the best party bands and an incomparable atmosphere. Wearing Austrian traditional costumes is of course always welcome.
