Derp Bikers Beachrace Egmond aan Zee

On Saturday 4 October, the Derp Bikers Beach Race will take place on the beach between Egmond aan Zee and Castricum.
Mountain bikers will brave forty kilometres of wind and sand during this race, which includes a few spectacular obstacles along the way. For years, this has been the first race of the season and is popular with participants. The race starts at 10:30 a.m. just south of the Nautilus beach pavilion. From 12:30 p.m., there will be an award ceremony and a raffle with great prizes on the handlebar. So everyone can win! Join in or come and watch.
After the race, there will be a super fun afterparty at the Sportcafé, Watertorenweg 36 in Egmond aan Zee, with the award ceremony, a raffle, music, snacks and drinks.
Registration is open until 21 September, and there will be another day of registration on 4 October.

Every first Sunday of the month, the IVN organises a walk through the dunes north of Egmond aan den Hoef.
The walk goes through the open dunes, along the inner dune edge and through the seaside village landscape. There are different routes, depending on the breeding season.
The walk starts at 10 a.m. at the PWN information board at the end of the Nachtegalenpad in Egmond aan den Hoef.

Imagine: a terrible storm is on its way, and it's getting worse. Trees, plants and animals are in danger. The only way to save nature is to use weather machines that are scattered throughout the Netherlands.
Who can crack the secret code of these machines and protect nature?
That is the mission in Code S.T.O.R.M, a unique experience for children aged 7-12. Are you a true nature hero and can you discover the activation code to turn on the weather machine in time?
(For parents:
The experience lasts approximately 120 minutes, during which you walk 3 kilometres in a wooded area and complete various escape room assignments that are approximately 500 metres apart. By watching videos displayed via QR codes on posts and information hidden in the real world, they gather the right information to solve puzzles and thus discover the activation code. Along the way, they learn various things about nature, such as what biodiversity is, why different trees in a forest are important and how long waste remains in nature. If these nature heroes successfully solve all the puzzles, the chest containing the weather machine can be opened and the machine activated.)

First, there is an explanation of all the celestial objects that can be seen, using a planetarium programme. Weather permitting, telescopes are set up in front of the Outdoor Centre, allowing visitors to view the starry sky with considerable magnification. If the weather is unsuitable, there is an indoor programme.

Bunkerdorp on Hoeverweg in Egmond aan den Hoef offers a unique opportunity to discover World War II bunkers. Scattered through the dunes are 13 bunkers, once part of the German Atlantic Wall. They were part of the defence of Bergen airfield and served as anti-aircraft defences. Thanks to volunteers, this heritage remains preserved and accessible.
Follow the route past bunkers with original sleeping quarters, ammunition storage and a canteen. Some are accessible to visitors.
Located opposite Hoeverweg 27 in Egmond aan de Hoef.
Only accessible on foot or by bicycle, no parking available.

Every first Sunday of the month, the IVN organises a walk through the dunes north of Egmond aan den Hoef.
The walk goes through the open dunes, along the inner dune edge and through the seaside village landscape. There are different routes, depending on the breeding season.
The walk starts at 10 a.m. at the PWN information board at the end of the Nachtegalenpad in Egmond aan den Hoef.
