The Benedictushof at Egmond Abbey has been transformed into one large, atmospheric exhibition of nativity scenes, in the year that we celebrate Francis building the first living nativity scene 800 years ago in Greccio. On Saturday 20 December, Alkmaar's city centre will be transformed into an atmospheric open-air living room, complete with fire pits, wooden benches, warm blankets and twinkling lights. While children roast marshmallows over the fire, visitors can enjoy mulled wine, hot chocolate and poffertjes.
