They were part of the defence of Bergen airfield and served as anti-aircraft defences. Thanks to volunteers, this heritage remains preserved and accessible. The bunker complex on Hoeverweg and bunker museum Jansje Schong are open to the public on this day. As will the telephone bunker in Alkmaar and the Military Airfield in Bergen. Wadden Islands jointly open for Bunker Day. During Bunker Day, you will need an admission ticket in the form of a wristband, which is only available on the day itself at participating locations. Birds breed while we stroll through the surf. To enhance the experience of nature, we want to bring more nature (back) to the beach. Nature that has always been there, but is now under pressure. There is more life in seaweed than you think! Every first Sunday of the month, we clean up the rubbish that has washed ashore or been left behind. This prevents it from ending up in the sea (again) or, even worse, being mistaken for food by birds. We could use some help with this. Will you join us? This excursion is fun for young and old. There you will find a bag waiting for you with yes a real magic wand. Take that bag with you on your journey. Follow the green route markers and discover the elves' doors. Each elf door has a task for the children. After each task, you can cast a spell and take the animal that goes with it. Join the guides of Staatsbosbeheer and Metius (the Alkmaar Weather and Astronomy Association) for a magical night-time full moon walk in the Schoorlse Dunes. Together you will wander through quiet forests and across moonlit dunes, with stops along the way where the guides share interesting facts about the moon and the nocturnal nature around you. The walk is suitable for ages 7 and up, covers approximately 5 km, and costs €11 per person. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
