23 May 2026 10.30 am 4.30 pm The idea behind the Hobby & Art Route is that, once a year, a number of residents in the Boerenhoek neighbourhood of Enkhuizen open their gardens to the public to give artists and hobbyists the opportunity to exhibit their work in these often hidden gardens in a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. The organisers aim for the greatest possible diversity. De Boerenhoek is a characteristic part of Enkhuizen in the town centre, where residents often have unexpectedly beautifully landscaped, sometimes very large and, above all, stunning gardens. This is because, in earlier times, cattle farmers and arable farmers had established their businesses within the city walls. The space left behind after the city farmers disappeared has been taken over by gardens. The canals through which the farmers used to sail daily in their barges and prams to pastures and fields have also been preserved. This listed townscape, with its farmhouses and canals lined with boat sheds on the banks, forms a vivid reminder of that period. It is wonderful to stroll around there. The Enkhuizen Hobby & Art Route has now become a well-attended event, without ever becoming too crowded. You can follow various routes through pretty streets and into beautiful gardens; a wonderful journey of discovery through this lovely spot in North Holland. 30 May 2026 An evening not to be missed On Saturday evening, 30 May 2026, Muziekkring Enkhuizen will celebrate its 80th anniversary with a festive concert performed by the regionally renowned symphony orchestra Sinfonia Hoorn. With this anniversary concert, Muziekkring celebrates not only 80 years of musical dedication, but also the rich cultural history of Enkhuizen and the Zuiderzee region. A unique opportunity to listen to music that evokes the scent of salt water, distant horizons and ships returning home. Our musical programme is therefore entitled the Zuiderzee. Waves of music will carry the audience along on grand sea voyages, through romance, melancholy and heroism music that roars like the waves against the sea wall. A festive evening for everyone who holds music and the sea close to their heart.
