A gigantic, futuristic spaceship of 10 x 15 meters. Do you dare the challenge and will you succeed in defeating your opponents? NOTE: you may only enter the arena in socks.

13 August 2026 Have you ever seen a shooting star? Every night from mid-July to the end of August, quite a few appear, so with a bit of luck you might spot one or more against a dark, clear sky; these are the Perseids. To mark this celestial spectacle, the Orion Public Observatory is hosting an observation evening, where the public both young people and adults are warmly welcome from 8 pm to 11 pm. Youll learn more about this shooting star shower. Orion is located on the first floor of the Streekbos Pavilion in the Het Streekbos nature reserve at Veilingweg 21 in Bovenkarspel. During this stargazing evening, a few fine examples of stony and iron meteorites will be on display in the exhibition area, and there will be continuous short presentations on the starry sky in the planetarium; in the dome room, there are large telescopes through which, if the sky is clear and dark, the planet Saturn can be seen; telescopes are also set up on the south-facing roof terrace for gazing at the starry sky, and explanations are provided here about planets, stars, constellations and nebulae, amongst other things. Admission is free and no booking is required. Has this viewing evening put you in the mood to perhaps watch this meteor shower, either at home or at your holiday destination? You dont need any special equipment; its clearly visible to the naked eye. Just make sure you find a dark spot with a wide view. Then sit back and enjoy the show from the comfort of your armchair or stretched out on a blanket on the ground. Wishing you many clear evenings and plenty of moments of enjoyment!
