An evening not to be missed
On Saturday evening, 30 May 2026, Muziekkring Enkhuizen will celebrate its 80th anniversary with a festive concert performed by the regionally renowned symphony orchestra Sinfonia Hoorn.
With this anniversary concert, Muziekkring celebrates not only 80 years of musical dedication, but also the rich cultural history of Enkhuizen and the Zuiderzee region.
A unique opportunity to listen to music that evokes the scent of salt water, distant horizons and ships returning home. Our musical programme is therefore entitled the Zuiderzee. Waves of music will carry the audience along on grand sea voyages, through romance, melancholy and heroism music that rustles like the waves against the dyke. A festive evening for everyone who holds music and the sea close to their heart.

Wednesday 13:30 17:00

Friday 13:30 17:00
Saturday 13:30 17:00
The exhibition Living with the Dike can be seen from Tuesday 2 June to Saturday 20 June at the Westerkerk in Enkhuizen. The exhibition shows how the West Frisian Omringdijk has been part of our daily lives for some 800 years. The town of Enkhuizen originated on the Omringdijk, and important streets such as Breedstraat form part of the historic dike. The exhibition is free to visit every Tuesday to Saturday from 1.30 pm to 5.00 pm.
The exhibition Living with the Dike pays tribute to the 126-kilometre-long Omringdijk, which, with its striking embankment, winds proudly through the North Holland landscape like a green garland. Since time immemorial, this dyke of dykes has protected people and animals from the raging waters and, in a warm embrace, has made West-Friesland into West-Friesland; one and indivisible.
Images and objects depict the encircling dyke in everyday life. Although it has lost its flood-control function in many places, the dyke remains the backbone of the landscape and connects people and communities both to and within the dyke. Cyclists, walkers, sports enthusiasts, birdwatchers and many others make grateful use of it for their strolls along the dyke. The dyke is also a source of inspiration for landscape painters, poets, singers and other creative minds.

Felix Mendelssohn Verleih uns Frieden
Joseph Haydn Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo
Intermezzo Songs by Fanny Mendelssohn
Felix Mendelssohn Psalm 42 Wie der Hirsch schreit
Felix Mendelssohn composed Verleih uns Frieden in 1831 to a text by Martin Luther. This short choral work expresses a simple yet poignant plea for peace. The warm harmonies and flowing melody lend the music a tranquil power, making it a much-loved choral work.
Joseph Haydn wrote his sparkling Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo around 1775 for the Brothers of Mercy in Eisenstadt. Its warm sound and short duration earned the work the nickname Little Organ Mass. Compact and melodious, with a lyrical Benedictus, it will be performed on 14 June with piano accompaniment.
Psalm 42, As the deer pants for streams of water, Opus 42 (1837), is Mendelssohns most extensive psalm composition, comprising seven movements, and was his personal favourite.
He began work on it during his honeymoon in the Black Forest, and the work consequently exudes happiness and a deep trust in the goodness of life.

Makerij Traditional Costumes in Pencil

15:30
Discover how everyday clothing is transformed into art. In this workshop, youll work with artist and teacher Daphne Gerritsma using pencil and paper at the Schathuys in the Zuiderzee Museum. Youll explore how simple garments from the traditional regional dress of the Zuiderzee region come to life in Jopie Huismans evocative, affectionate style.
Daphne Gerritsma has been teaching drawing for years and will show you how attention, patience and observation make all the difference: how a piece of fabric, a seam or a pleat takes on a story of its own. Youll learn to see things as Jopie did with respect for the everyday and an eye for detail.
At the end of the workshop, youll go home with your own pencil drawing. Who knows, you might soon have a new Jopie Huisman hanging on your wall.
