As in many other popular holiday destinations, the peak summer season in the Netherlands is between June and August. This is mainly because most neighbouring countries have summer holidays during this period, and staying in a holiday park in the Netherlands is very popular with families during the summer holidays.
However, there is also plenty to do in the early summer. In April there are the King's Day celebrations, and the tulips are in full bloom throughout April and May. This makes it an ideal time to visit the Keukenhof (our most famous tulip field). The autumn months of September and October in late summer are still perfect to enjoy the sun an take a city break or a visit to the national park.

Where can you fish without a fishing licence in Holland?
Where can you fish without a fishing licence in Holland?
You do not need a fishing licence for a fishing holiday in the Netherlands. If you want to go fishing in the Netherlands, you need a so-called VISpas. The VISpas is like the national fishing licence of the Netherlands and can easily be bought online or at a local angling shop. There are different types of fishing licences but the standard pass costs about 40 euros for a year and this allows you to fish with two rods in about 90 per cent of Dutch waters. On the website VISplanner (also available as an app), you can also see where you are allowed to fish in the Netherlands.
