Holiday park by the sea: Attractions and activities

As well as relaxation, a holiday at the seaside also offers many attractions. Especially if you are staying at a holiday park on the Dutch coast, there is a wide range of activities and highlights to choose from. Visit historic cities or picturesque fishing villages and discover the culture of the region.

Many of the Dutch and Flemish coastal regions have an impressive history: in a painstaking process, coastal areas were diked and drained using windmills. Where there was once water, you can now literally cycle on the seabed or discover the vast tulip fields during your holiday at a seaside park.

The Dutch coastal provinces of North and South Holland, and especially the province of Flevoland, are perfect examples of polder landscapes. Almost all of Flevoland was created after the construction of the Afsluitdijk in 1932, which transformed the former Zuiderzee into today's IJsselmeer.

Many of the Dutch coastal towns have an impressive history. For example, several coastal areas were drained using windmills and dikes were built to hold back the water. Where once there was water, you can now literally cycle on the seabed or discover the vast tulip fields during your holiday in a seaside park.
