The jovial city of Zwolle

You can see it looming from afar: the Peperbus, the centerpiece of hanseatic Zwolle. The historic city center with the Sassenpoort, the Melkmarkt and the Rodetorenplein are more than worth a visit. Just like Museum de Fundatie with changing exhibitions.

Cozy city center

Stroll through the cozy streets of the city center of Zwolle, where the Sassenpoort still recalls the heyday of Zwolle in the fifteenth century. Everything here breathes the atmosphere of yesteryear: the Oude Vismarkt, the Melkmarkt and the Luttekestraat. Just like parts of the old city walls, ramparts and canals that have been restored to their original state. The 75 meter high Peperbus overlooks the beautiful city center.

Museums and books

A visit to Museum de Fundatie is recommended. Various exhibitions alternate in the visual arts museum. In addition to the center of Zwolle, part of the museum's collection is also housed in Het Nijenhuis Castle in Heino. The castle itself alone is worth a visit! Don't forget to browse around Waanders in de Broeren. This bookshop is located in the monumental Broerenkerk.

Tasty food and going out

Of course you can also go shopping in cozy Zwolle or settle down on one of the terraces or nice restaurants. Have a bite to eat in Lunchroom Blocks in Diezerstraat, café In Den Hoofdwacht on Grote Markt, party café De Stoof on Oude Vismarkt or at La Cucaracha in Sassenstraat. Here in Zwolle you will also find the best restaurant in the Netherlands. De Librije on Spinhuisplein has been awarded with Michelin stars and is one of the fifty best restaurants in the world. Another nightlife tip is theater De Spiegel, the annual Street Festival and a visit to football club PEC Zwolle.
